About Us
Ultimate Frisbee is a fast-paced, non-contact team sport played with a flying disc. It combines the athleticism of football with the flow of basketball — and it's defined by one founding principle: self-officiation. There are no referees. Players call their own fouls, guided by the Spirit of the Game.
Vortex was founded in 2023 with a clear mission: to bring the joy, discipline, and spirit of Ultimate to Azerbaijan. We believe the sport builds not just athletes, but people — teammates who compete with integrity and grow together.
From weekly training sessions in Baku to international tournaments, everything we do is grounded in community, fair play, and a deep love of the game.

Our Story
2023
Vortex Ultimate was established in Baku — the first dedicated Ultimate Frisbee club in Azerbaijan. The founding group began regular training sessions and set the foundations of the club's culture.
2023
Weekly training sessions took shape and the club ran its first internal scrimmages and mini-tournaments, building team chemistry and competitive spirit from day one.
2024
Vortex expanded beyond the pitch, running introductory workshops at schools and universities across Baku to grow awareness and participation in Ultimate throughout Azerbaijan.
2024 – 2025
Vortex players began competing at international Ultimate Frisbee events, representing Azerbaijan on the regional and international stage for the first time.

Vortex is building toward a future where Azerbaijan is a recognized name in regional and international Ultimate. We're growing our competitive edge while keeping the culture and spirit of the game at the center of everything we do.

Leadership
Vortex is governed by an elected leadership team, chosen by the membership at the club's annual general meeting. Each role carries specific responsibilities to keep the club running smoothly — on and off the field.
